The Outback

My first ever aerial embroidery inspired by the Australian Outback! It was not initially started with this in mind but my more usual moorland landscapes – however, after sharing a progress picture of it with just the thin streams, paths and trees, many people remarked on its resemblance to the Outback with the dry earthy felt colour and sparse trees. As I continued to add bushes, I felt this more and more worked for it until I decided to change direction. After looking through aerial images of the Outback, I completed the it with a solitary card house to produce a raised 3D effect and emphasis the more empty feel of the landscape.
