A hidden paradise – the Amazon

A rare oval landscape of mine depicting the Amazon river landscape – can you spot where the manatees are?? Many hours and thousands of knots went into this Amazon-inspired piece – although the main large river shape was used from real life, the offshoot shapes were made up. Although present in real life, I wanted to have fun with them! The circular water section was also inspired by a real part of the Amazon I found.
This landscape has turned out to be something of a practice piece for me – while completing it, I decided I want to attempt a much larger oval piece to really show the scale of the forest and river, much larger than this one. I’m very happy with this piece but know I could make it much larger!
